How to Play Sports Party Bingo

1. PRINT GAME CARDS - At any time prior to or during the TV sporting event, the party host visits http://www.sportspartybingo.com and prints a set of game cards according to the number of people present. The game cards sets are customizable to include the names of the teams competing on TV, and can contain up to 500 randomly generated cards per set.

2. DISPLAY A PRIZE, DISTRIBUTE THE CARDS AND PLAY - It adds to the excitement to provide a prize for each game winner. The party hosts picks an appropriate time after the beginning of the game on TV to distribute game cards and markers to partygoers making sure to prominently show off the prize.

3. FACILITATE THE FUN - As the Bingo game proceeds, the party host should remain accessible to assist when issues arise during the game. The most common issues that occur are:

  • Helping someone understand the meaning of a card square
  • Deciding whether or not a marked square is valid
  • Determining how close the game is to having a winner by occasionally asking the attendees as a group, “How many of you have one square remaining?”, “How many of you have two squares remaining?”, etc.

4. PLAYER WITH A WINNING CARD WINS THE PRIZE - Eventually a partygoer marks five squares in a row and shouts “Bingo!”. At that time, the party host stands alongside the partygoer and reviews each marked square, one at a time, aloud so that the other attendees may hear whether or not they concur with each marked square. This process is easy and fun because many other partygoers have also marked the same squares on their own cards. When the winning card is confirmed the game ends and the party host presents the prize to the winner in front of the entire group. Playing multiple card games during the TV sporting event increases the fun!

How To Plan for a Sports Party Bingo Party

1. DETERMINE HOW MANY CARD GAMES TO PLAY DURING YOUR PARTY - Prior to the day of the TV sporting event, the party host decides how many card games to play during the sporting event so that a novelty prize can be acquired for each game ahead of time. The number of card games to play is entirely up to the host. But, here are some suggestions based on experience:

Sporting Event Suggested Number of Sports Party Bingo Games to Play
Baseball 4 - Three games during the baseball game and a grand prize game any time after the first three
Basketball 5 - One game per quarter (US professional) or two games per half (international or US collegiate) and a grand prize game in the final quarter
Football   5 - One game per quarter and a grand prize game in the final quarter
Soccer 5 - Two games per half and a grand prize game after the first two

2. ACQUIRE A NOVELTY PRIZE FOR EACH CARD GAME TO BE PLAYED - For each card game to be played, the party host acquires a novelty prize to make it even more fun for partygoers to play. Examples of novelty items: a jersey with logo, a jacket with logo, a sweatshirt with logo, a t-shirt with logo, a mug, a ball cap, a bag of candy or chocolate, a squishy foam ball from a party store, a gift card to a store or restaurant, etc. For low budget games, a local dollar store often has sports themed items that can be purchased for this purpose.
